Shutter & Shore Photography Policies & Service Agreement

Welcome & Brand Promise

At Shutter & Shore, we are committed to delivering light-filled, artfully captured moments with a personal, luxury experience. These policies are designed to ensure clarity, respect for time and effort on both sides, and a seamless client journey.

Booking & Payment Policies

1. Retainer Requirement: All sessions require a nonrefundable 50% deposit to secure your booking. Dates are not reserved without this payment. Session consults are availablle to schedule after retainer is paid & booking confirmed.

2. Full Payment Incentive: Clients who choose to pay 100% of their session or package fees at the time of booking receive a 10% discount on their total session or package fee (excludes extras such as prints, travel fees, etc).

3. Nonrefundable Policy: All retainers, session fees, travel, consulting, and/or print/digital product fees are strictly nonrefundable.

4. Accepted Payment Methods: We accept payments via PayPal, Venmo, and credit/debit cards through our online checkout.

5. Credit Card Processing Fees: Clients are responsible for any applicable credit card processing fees charged by the processor.

6. Price Consideration Policy: While we stand by the quality of our work, we understand budgets vary. At our discretion, and with proof of a written quote from an established local photographer, we may consider matching or slightly adjusting a competitor's rate. We reserve the right to decline price match requests.

Print & Digital Delivery

1. Delivery Fees: Unless otherwise noted in a promotion or package description, extra editing requests (additions/deletions/ heavy photoshopping, etc.), full digital galleries, SD cards, USBs, & physical print or canvas products are an additional cost. We include a number of high resolution, digital images for download in all sessions & packages. However, we believe in quality over quantity, and choose only the best photos from each shoot to edit for delivery to you. This means the number of images you receive may vary, depending on the number of images that turn out well enough you would like to keep and share them. Especially when working with children, a large number of snaps just aren't usable, due to fidgeting, fussing, looking away, or expressions. Don't worry, we will get the good shots! & we will edit them for you, to perfection.

2. Licensing: Discounted sessions require clients to sign a photo release agreement authorizing Shutter & Shore to use images for promotional, social media, competition, stock, and website purposes.

Rescheduling & Cancellations

1. Flexible Rescheduling: We understand that life happens. Clients may reschedule without penalty with at least 48 hours’ notice, or in cases of documented illness or emergency communicated promptly.

2. Notice Requirements: For non-emergency reschedules, 48 hours’ notice is required. If less notice is given (excepting sudden illness or emergency), we will reschedule you subject to our calendar availabiity, and a reschedule fee will apply:

$50 for mini sessions

$100 for full sessions

3. Late Arrival Policy: Our photographers will wait no more than 10–15 minutes at the scheduled location. Please call if running late. Sessions may be cut short to accommodate other bookings, with no credit or refund for lost time.

4. No-Call/No-Shows: If a session is missed without notice, the client forfeits the session fee. A reschedule may be offered at our discretion with payment of a reschedule fee. The session must be rebooked within 30 days for a date no later than 3 months from the original session.

Communication

We strive to be flexible and understanding. If something comes up, just communicate with us. We’re parents too — we get it. Let’s work together with mutual respect and courtesy.

Travel & Location Policy

Shutter & Shore proudly serves Wayzata, Minnetonka, Edina, Minnetonka Beach, Excelsior, Orono, Hopkins, and the greater Twin Cities Metro area. In Home sessions are available within 30 minutes of Wayzata; requests considered for other cities with travel fee applied. Most of our shoots take place outdoors, in the beauty of nature. Some urban cityscape sessions are offered annually. 

Shutter & Shore will gladly consider your special destination events. Other locations may be considered worldwide with custom fees and paid travel expenses. Please inquire for more information. Travel projects are subject to availability and may be refused. Contact us for a custom quote! 

Custom Travel Quote Policy: Destination sessions and travel-based photography require a custom quote tailored to the client’s needs, schedule, and location. Quotes will include time, talent, equipment transport, location scouting, per diem, lodging (if applicable), and travel expenses. Payment in full, in advance, is the nonrefundable retainer required to secure all destination bookings, as we will be clearing our calendar and scheulde to accommodte your requeset. Failure to pay on time may result in cancellation of services.

Terms & Conditions

All content, including photographs and written material, is the exclusive property of Shutter & Shore Photography and is protected under U.S. copyright laws. Any unauthorized use, reproduction, or distribution is strictly prohibited.

By booking a session, you agree to abide by all outlined policies and terms. These terms may be updated periodically, and continued engagement with our services implies acceptance of any modifications.

Legal Notice

This document outlines the professional terms of service for Shutter & Shore Photography and serves as our legal agreement with all clients. It covers rights, responsibilities, and policies in accordance with Minnesota state law and U.S. federal guidelines.
